Engineer

Jazz Guitarist/Producer/Engineer/Arranger/Composer

As you can see I wear many hats. I purchased my first recording apparatus a Teac 4 Track in 1977 when I joined Kenny Rogers. I knew then I needed a creative outlet for myself, because playing a superstars hits on a nightly basis and making it sound fresh is totally different from being creative and stretching out in a jazz band.

I'm fairly new to the computer having purchased my first one Christmas of 2002. I did however upgrade my recording equipment over the years to a 80-8 and then "Stand Alone" hard disk recorders. I was introduced to SAW PRO in 2001 by a dear friend and colleague Frank V. Farrell while mixing my "No Boundaries" Cd. He's been on the cutting edge of the Saw products for years now. He told me about SAW STUDIO and I'm eternally grateful he helped me take the next step in my musical recording journey. My blessing in all this is I didn't have to unlearn a bunch of computer commands but was able to grasp Bob's vision of how a program was suppose to work...AND WORK IT DOES! I'm also told I'm one of the first to record directly into SAW STUDIO without a go-between consol. Pretty exciting for a newbie!

I honestly feel I can compete with the big boys and $100,000 plus studios with the advent of SAW STUDIO the mixing, recording, and editing ability is nothing less than top notch.

My thanks to Bob Lentini for a truly innovative program that even a novice to computers like me can run.

He asked if I would produce a Cd on him for his kids. I am both honored and blessed to have had this rich and rare opportunity to work with such a great talent...

May this Cd become a "new-found legacy" for you, your children, and the many generation to come.

Produced by Dan Jacobs. The rhythm tracks were recorded using Radar at The Sound Emporium in Nashville TN: engineer Mike Poole . The tracks were converted and brought to my studio for all overdubs of horns, strings, flutes, drums on 2 songs, solos and extra guitar parts.

I uploaded some songs for Edgar Struble who lives in Los Angeles to do some of the horn and string arrangements on a Mac based program. He converted his files to wavs and uploaded them to my website. I then downloaded them and placed them into the song in SAWStudio, printed out the charts for the strings and horns and recorded them directly into SAW without a console. We did the same for the arrangements Warren Hartman did.

After I engineered all the overdubs I set out to do the final mixes and mastering without ever leaving the "Sweet Spot" or the comfort of my chair. No console means not having to reach track 32 for an EQ change and then sliding back to the "Sweet Spot" to see if it was correct :-) Randy Dorman... Scenic Ridge Records & Studio
